As a Licensed Massage Therapist I use Kinesio Taping to support the body’s healing processes to restore normal function in muscle tissues and help reduce pain. Why is this so effective? When there is inflammation in the muscle, the space between the skin and muscle is compressed. When this occurs, the flow of lymphatic fluid is constricted and compression in the dermis stimulates the pain receptors to cause pain. By applying tape to the affected muscle, the space between the skin and subcutaneous tissue (hypodermis) is increased to improve lymphatic drainage and reduce the stimulation of the pain receptors in the dermis. This ultimately provides a better tissue-healing environment. It is also used to assist in mechanical correction of improper posture. Kinesio Tape is used in common conditions such as Back pain, ankle sprains, shoulder injuries, abdominal pain, whiplash injuries, cervical spondylosis, knee pain, IT Band pain.
